Happy New Year from Hadley Rille Books!
Oh-ten is looking up and I'll be posting more tomorrow.

Snow in our creek. Cool. Okay, be gone, I'm ready for spring.

Goodbye trees. It was nice having you, but the city didn't think you were important.

The Very Large Array, about an hour's drive west of Socorro, New Mexico. Taken on my way out to LA for LACONIV, Worldcon in 2006.
(A story in the upcoming Destination: Future anthology takes place here.)
A courtyard in downtown Santa Fe, New Mexico, on way to a little wine shop. Taken on a trip in 2007 where we also visited Chaco Canyon.

More critical acclaim for Buffalito Destiny from Colleen R. Cahill with an excellent review at Fast-Forward. And Amazon has the trade paperback on sale for just $9.89. You can't beat a price like that.

Now you can buy Origins in hardcover. Got a nice review from Publishers Weekly and it is currently in the list of "Last 90 Days High Scores" from sffmeta. The hardcover is available on-line now and soon from bookstores, including Powell's and Borderlands.

The "other" evolution anthology The Tangled Bank will be released soon by Tangled Bank Press, edited by Chris Lynch. This and Origins are the only anthologies I am aware of that are commemorating the 150-year anniversary of The Origin of Species.

What would you take to Mars?
davidlevine is going. Help him decide.
Keep those subs coming for Aether Age. This is one fascinating world and you are invited to write a story within it and submit until the end of January 2010.
spitkitten Caren Gussoff wins 2009 Gulliver Travel Research Grant. We're proud to publish her story "Games" in the soon-to-be-released Destination: Future anthology, edited by
alaneer and me.
And now, a scene from western Kansas...

Snow on the ground in KC, had to shovel out the van today after it got stuck in snow at then entrance to a subdivision that hadn't yet been plowed. Supposed to get below zero degF in a couple of days in KC.
Here's a scene from warmer times this last autumn, about three months ago, flying above the Flint Hills of Kansas, a little ways east of the geographic center of the state:
